Default ? about chance to block

how do enchantments that give you a chance to block or increase your block stack.

if your wondering the skills they are Mirage Cloak and Conviction.
i don't think they add up to 100 but what will it add up to.

If it works like other % chance based skills in GW then it's multiplicative. So suppose you have a 50% block skill and a 75% block skill.

1-((1-.50)*(1-.75)) = .875 = 87.5%

In your example, Mirage Cloak (50%) and Conviction (50%)...

1-((1-.50)*(1-.50)) = .75 = 75%

There is probably an upper limit on the block cap. I don't think you could stack blocks to ever hit 100% even if it was mathematically possible.

It's multiplicative.
That is, the odds of the attack going through are multiplied.

Conviction and Mirage Cloak both have a 50% chance to block. i.e. an attack has a 50% chance to get through either one of them.
Say both are up and an enemy attacks you.
The attack has a 50% chance of being blocked by Mirage Cloak.
The attack has a 50% chance of going through Mirage Cloak.
If it gets through Mirage Cloak (which it will 50% of the time) then it must now get through Conviction which has the same 50% block chance.
50% of the 50% chance of it getting through Mirage Cloak is 25%.
So that means that you will be hit by 25% of all attacks i.e. you have a 75% block chance.

In short:
Total Block chance = 1 - ((1-Block chance from A) * (1-Block chance from B) *...)

There is no upper cap to blocking. Mathematically you can never reach a 100% blocking rate (unless one source gives a 100% block rate), although you can get arbitrarily close. The game may round it up if you got to 99% (somehow).

Blocking caps at 75% iirc

Wiki disagrees with you: "There is no cap on stackable blocking skills, but the effects are multiplicative."

Please check things before answering questions regarding game mechanics. It's ever so easy to do.

Rather the first block skill applies, and any attack that bypasses that has to pass the second block skill for a total effective chance to block of 75%.

Multiple blocking effects are treated as a two-step process, therefore if you have one 50% chance to block skill and one 75% chance to block skill, the game treats it like this:
  • 50% chance to block
    • Blocked
    • Not blocked
  • If not blocked then 75% chance to block
    • Blocked
    • Not Blocked

The chance of enemies hitting you is 50%*25%=12.5%. Thus giving you a net total of a 87.5% to block.

Feel free to test this, but you'll need to be hit several hundred times to be able to draw up an accurate conclusion.
A mere one hundred times should get you a pretty good idea.
